Gates Millennium Scholarship 2013-2014

I realized how much of “I learned this” or “this experience taught me” stuff I have in my essays… I took them out just now. Lol. Hope I didn’t mess up my chance. Not that I don’t even know what my chances are for this scholarship!

I think we all have a fair chance and good luck to everyone. I think I am going to be nervous all through these two and a half months.

Which essay(s) did you guys find the most difficult with?

By the way, I saw a few posts earlier about me and someone said he, I just wanted to say that I am a girl. I really wish they would put gender or something to indicate that on here.

I found the leadership experience the hardest because I was not sure what topic to write about. What about you?

Is anyone still working on his or her essays?

^^ same. It’s hard for me to answer those “how it influenced your goals” since you have to somehow connect them to your answers of the short/long term goals. Overall, it’s hard for me to connect all 8 essays together since it’s kind of like a story.

I swear this scholarship was the death of me.

That was the hardest for me to. I submitted my application this morning, sigh it was such a big relief.

@laeeyle2 I agree with you.

How many leadership roles y’all put? I didn’t have many.

3 President of National Honor Society, Vice President of SGA, and Secretary of Key Club. What about you?

Good luck, everyone! When might we find out if we receive this scholarship?

I decided to apply to this today.

I got in my application on time though it was hard completing 8 essays in less than six hours lol

I put tae kwon do assistant instructor, GED tutor, arts and crafts instructor in nursing home… I dont have any official titles or anything like being a president of a club. Lol. I’m terrible. Hope my essays will help me with that.
@cheezy219 impressive. Lol. It took me over a month! How’d you get your nominator and recommender submit tbeir references on time?? I had to keep reminding mine until they did it at the last minute.

I’ve been writing my essays for 3 months now. Feels good to finally submit.

These two months are going to kill me.

For leadership I put Drill Commander, Platoon Leader, Cadet Challenge Team Leader, Sergeant, Senator, and I forget the last one I put. I had a lot of leadership positions in JROTC.

I did my entire application in the last week. Hopefully we all wrote great essays, even us procrastinators. Hearing about all these great leadership positions worries me a bit. My leadership positions weren’t as astounding :-/

Anyway, who else felt so great after hitting the submit button???

I’m in JROTC as well! I’ve had many leadership positions over the course of my involvement in the program, but I’m currently the S-3 Training and Op. Officer for my battalion. ^_^

I can’t wait for these next weeks to pass by. I wish I could just go to sleep and wake up on the week they announce who the finalists are.

JROTC helped me so much with leadership, but I only did it for two years. You just reminded me of the last leadership position I put which was S-3 assistant. :)

I feel pretty good that I submitted it. I’m also really anxious…

It was awesome.

I was relieved. It ruined my winter break! Hope all my hard work pays off. I’ve spent so much time and effort into it.
