Gay acceptance at Iowa State...

<p>Hey guys</p>

<p>I'm interested in Iowa State, but know next to nothing about the acceptance of gay students there/in the midwest in general. (Have been in the Northeast whole life)</p>

<p>I'm not super over the top about it but I'd still prefer to not have to be back in the closet through college. So I'd like to hear from current students/parents how accepting the ISU is of gay students</p>

<p>The Midwest is fairly accepting as a whole, Iowa probably being one of the more liberal states in that regard. You should be fine at ISU - there’ll be jerks and idiots, but there’ll be plenty of accepting people too - the pros and cons of a large university. You might be a tad disappointed at the gay scene, especially if you’re from a big city - Ames is no NYC…</p>
