GE classes that give honors credit?

Hi, I'm a first year in the honors program, and my second pass is on Monday. I'm not enrolled in a GE cluster, so I need to find a GE class to take next quarter that gives honors credit. I've been scouring the master list for ages now, and I'm having great difficulty finding anything. >< Could someone help me find GE classes with honors credit and/or recommend some classes? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Oh the honors program…

Can I ask why you joined the honors program and what benefits you see from it (other than the special sticker on your diploma and putting it on your resume)?

Step 1: Look at the honors collegium classes under the schedule of classes. Click on the course info for every lower division honors collegium class to see if it is a GE. (Many are.)

Step 2: Look for classes that have honors sections. For example, if you look at Ling 1 you will see that it is taught by Schuh this quarter. A year ago, Schuh also taught Ling 1 and you will see that he also taught Ling 89 (honors seminar). This is a bit tricky, however (because honors seminars will not show up every quarter) and tedious, so the best way is to find out from other if a professor usually does honors contracts.

I’m not entirely sure if I want to do the honors program, to be perfectly honest ^^;; I’m “in it”, meaning I met the requirements as an incoming freshman, but I’m not sure if I want to actually go through with it and complete all the coursework. It sounded like it would be a good experience that would give me lots of opportunities.

But seeing how hard it is to find classes to accomplish it, I’m wary. ^^;;

Thank you very much, TiaWNPP :slight_smile: Is the most common way to receive honors credits for lower division classes through honors contracts? I tried to get into an honors seminar for next quarter, but I wasn’t accepted. All the fiat lux seminars filled up before I could even blink, too. ^^;;

Well, thanks once again; I’ll look into it, and I’ll probably end up talking to an honors counselor on Monday :]

No idea. I applied to honors freshman year and intended on dropping it. I’m still in the honors program, but only because I keep unintentionally taking honors classes. (I didn’t know about the Master List until I got the letter congratulating me on keeping up with my honors credits, and I starting wondering what honors classes I had taken.)

All I know is from me looking into what I’d need to do to reach the 44 units (since I’m so far already… I mapped it out and I can easily do it, I’d just have a little less flexibility with “fun” classes and the like).
