Gender imbalance in political science?

Hello everyone. I plan on majoring in political science (and ultimately attending law school), but recently found that there are significantly more males than females in this major. Is this true? Does anyone have any statistics on this? As a female planning to major in poly science, I was really interested in this...

Could applying to college as a female poly science major have any weight on my application if such a ratio is true or will it not matter at all?

I won’t matter. Students often change majors during the first couple of years. There are relatively few situations where gender and declared major might affect admissions, and those are usually in fields like engineering, visual arts, etc.

Thanks that makes sense. But I’m still curious to know whether there is indeed a gender imbalance in that major? It might just be the area I live in, but all the political functions I go to, and in our school political club it seems like I am either the only, or one of the few females there.
