I was wondering, what is the general guideline regarding the Arts supplement?

I’d rate myself as an above average pianist (no competitions though, just 10 years of playing and a certification of graduation from the Royal Conservatory of Music) and sent a CD to Harvard EA.

Was it a wise move? What I mean is, is it generally only musical superstars who send in their recordings, and thus, making mine look pale in comparison? I got deferred, so I was wondering if that could have HURT me instead.

Also, I’m considering sending the CD to other RD applications (such as Penn RD) and would like a second opinion on whether or not I should go for it. BTW, I am not considering going into music as a major. (most likely majoring in Economics or M&T program)

I'd like to know this too...I consider myself a very good violinist/pianist (15 years of experience) but I'm not the type that went to hundreds of competitions and won those.

ditto. I submitted CDs to all of my schools though (Including HY and Penn-Princeton's required specific recordings that I don't conveniently have at the moment, but otherwise I probably would of submitted one there too)

I think that you should have someone who really knows what they're doing evaluating your CD first. My piano teacher happens to be very in the middle of the NYC music scene, and therefore said that it would be OK. I probably would die compared to Julliard people but he rated my CD "competitive and accomplished as a non-major". So I decided that I might as well, since it is a big proportion of my life (and I did end up paying $350+ to make the CD).
