Is it true that Harvey Mudd only offers a general Engineering Degree?

yeah. only one.

Just wondering, is there a particular reason why Harvey Mudd chose to only give general and not specialized engineering degrees?

i think it had something to do with getting exposure to all fields, that and they're big on these projects that you have to do. but you do have the opportunity to take classes within the particular field you're interested in, but you don't get a degree saying that. just your general engineering degree.

they're also a LAC, and i'm under the impression (although i could be wrong) that most LACs only offer general engineering degrees anyways. although most Mudd engineering majors probably go off to get their Masters right away.

but after all that rambling...i really don't know why they do it that way. Mudd itself is probably the only place that could answer that question.

Why does Harvey Mudd only offer a general engineering major?

Harvey Mudd College believes that its broad engineering program is most likely to produce engineers capable of adapting a changing technology to expanding human needs. Within this context, an engineering major may choose to emphasize a particular engineering specialty by choosing appropriate elective courses and Engineering Clinic projects.
