General high schooler questions

Im applying as an electrical engineering major but might switch to accounting after a semester or a year, if i hate engineering and i have a few questions.

I know that case is known to be a small school and that they have pretty small class sizes. Are the accounting an engineering classes also small? By engineering classes I also mean the math classes, science classes, and engineering classes people take. Can you give me a rough estimate about how many students I should expect in accounting or engineering classes.

How rigorous are the accounting and electrical engineering and accounting classes. Im smart but im not too smart (hope that didnt come off arrogant). I get A-'s in my honors math and science classes and that is probably average in my school (i go to a school in the silicon valley and its pretty competitive). you can look at a couple of chance me threads I have posted to see a full list of my stats.

thank you for your time.

Case is considered medium size…about 4600 undergrads and about 5700 grad students. The intro science and math classes (Physics, Calculus) will be very large 300+ And Chem 400+. Intro Acctg will be closer to 50. I can’t speak to the rigor of the Business classes but for Engineering be prepared for very rigorous courses meant to weed out those not meant to be Engineers. There is, however, a lot of support- tutors, study groups, supplemental instruction groups, etc. so if you are determined you’ll do fine.

@Sdgal2‌ how about when u get into ur specific engineering courses, for EE that might be like control systems analysis or whatever. how large are those classes?

A few of the EE/CS classes are up to about 100, but then the more advanced or specific fall to about 20-30.

There are many sections of math…they are relatively small.Back in the day when I took Chemistry it was a large lecture hall…but they had a very good teaching professor for that class. The TAs would help with homework as well.

Try asking your admissions counselor for more specifics.<a href=“Undergraduate Admission | Case Western Reserve University”>Undergraduate Admission | Case Western Reserve University;

@halcyonheather‌ I don’t think you can access that without proper credentials…also, you probably should not give access because it would likely be tied to your info…

No, their class schedule is open for everyone to view and it has nothing to do with me. I just provided the link for convenience, but if it doesn’t work you can just Google “Case Western schedule of classes.”

Oh, ok. I tried but had to enter user name and password. Thanks for passing along the info.

You could search on say, Chemistry and you can see the number of students in the class. 100 level courses would be for freshman.

@bopper‌ thanks!

@bopper‌ @Sdgal2‌ so there are calculus classes with only 30 students. so there are small math and sceince classes at case right?

@toesockshoe‌ yes, after the intro courses

@Sdgal2‌ i thought calc WAS an intro course

And Calc II, Calc III, Calc for Engr, then many other Math courses

@Sdgal2‌ @bopper‌ so, would you consider case to be harder or as hard as gatech and berekely interms of engineering workload?

As hard

I can’t really compare the two having never been to GATech or Berkely, but all engineering curriculums are challenging.
