@GMUHopeful i applied before the priority deadline, and have heard nothing. I’m going elsewhere so I haven’t bothered calling them to ask why. My transcripts may have missed the deadline as they took forever to send.
I’ll let you know if I hear anything.
I called a couple weeks back and they said to wait another month as admissions are “rolling” however I applied in the beginning of march and still nothing. Anyone else still waiting?
can we take classes at our community college in the summer, before transferring in the fall, want to transfer these credits too
@collegegal01 still waiting, so what does that mean were going to hear in June?
@gentlebreeze I don’t know but if you get an answer let us know, pretty curious about that as well
@GMUHopeful I called back at the end of april and they said give it a month so I’ve been waiting on a decision any time now. I’m going to call again tomorrow and will let you know what they say. The only advice they gave was that since its “rolling” they can’t give me an exact date
what did they say? @collegegal01
@GMUHopeful They just told me they cant give me any timeline and basically that i’ll have to keep waiting
Anyone else still waiting? I applied April 17th and haven’t heard back yet.
@nschuyler still waiting what are your stats?
@GMUHopeful ugh! Such a long wait! I have a 4.0 GPA. Transferring in as a junior. I think I’m pretty well qualified. Just worried because I applied pretty late.
I just received my acceptance for Fall 2018 today as a Community Health BS major. Sophomore transfer. I was notified that all my transcripts and stuff were received on 5/21. So it only took them about a week and a half for the decision after I applied and everything mailed in. My case may be a bit different though, because I’m an out of state student from a supposedly higher-ranked university.
Out of state students pay higher tuition fees bringing in more $$$ to the college. GMU however being a public school must also admit instate students. The university you come from doesn’t make a difference. It’s your academic qualifications and submitting all the paperwork in time so that your application can be reviewed and a decision can be made. Another issue is space in a particular major. Some majors are restricted so they have only a certain number of seats available. Majors like nursing or engineering will have higher academic standards than other programs.
True, public colleges need all the money they can get. I’m assuming better grades from a more competitive university compared to the same grades at a less difficult university would reflect better on how academically qualified you are, which would affect the admissions decision.
Many people make this wrong assumption. Many students transfer to GMU from community college and do quite well here. Some students chose this route because it is the most affordable path to obtaining a four year degree. Many students are of high academic caliber but they don’t have the means to afford a more elite school. For those looking at academic rigor they will definitely be challenged at GMU. I see many students here very serious about their education. Look into the Honor’s college for more academic rigor.
have you heard back? @collegegal01
has anyone that applied after the deadline heard back yet?
Accepted today. I applied before deadline but my transcripts arrived after.
This wait is killing me! Anyone know how limited their space is? I applied pretty late (April 17) and I’m worried they are going to be out of spots soon, because it is on a space available basis after the priority deadline.
@nschuyler As far as space is concerned it is really dependent on the major that you applied for. Is this the only transfer application that you submitted? Do you have acceptances from other schools?
