Hello guys, I'm from Virginia and have been accepted into both Clemson and George Mason for Computer Engineering and wait-listed for VT, so I'm not too hopeful on that. I am having such a hard time making a decision. From what I've read/heard, Clemson is the better school for engineering, but is it worth the out of state cost? I'd like to go away from home, but a 8 hour drive is a long drive to Clemson vs a 20 minute drive to George Mason. Do you think 20 minutes is far enough if I live on campus?

If you live in campus, even with a 10 minutes drive you will get the college experience.

If you get off the waitlist, then definitely Virginia Tech. Clemson’s tuition is 20k per year more expensive than George Mason’s plus your transportation cost will be higher at Clemson. (120k more for 4 years)There is a significant cost difference but the education difference won’t be significant. Attend George Mason

If it’s a huge financial burden, just stay in-state and go to George Mason (hopefully you get off the wait-list at VT!). The great thing about George Mason is that it’s close to DC so you’ll have opportunities that you wouldn’t get at other engineering schools at the same level as George Mason. However if your parents really don’t mind about the cost than Clemson is definitely the better choice for computer engineering.

Let me know if you have any questions though about Clemson! I am a senior civil engineering major there.

@pierre0913 Can you tell me about the Civil or Environmental Engineering at Clemson.
my son was accepted to Clemson with a nice Scholarship.
