“By the end of his second year at Rice in 1996, the future Texas land commissioner was staring down the barrel of academic probation.”
I don’t understand the point of this post. What’s the point of posting an article link without comment? So George Bush’s grandson was on academic probation once at Rice in 1996 and his grandmother, Barbara, talked with him and was successful in getting him to focus on his grades. Lots of grandparents have great relationships with their grandchildren. It’s great she was able to have a positive impact on him.
He is bound to run for governor of Texas sooner or later and it’s an interesting and informative window to his life story.
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
I’ve expressed this frustration before. IMO, if a user feels a link is important enough to create a thread, then it’s worthwhile to for an OP to spend a few minuted to say why s/he’s posting it. But that’s solely my opinion.
What I do object to are clickbait headlines, which I found this thread to contain. Therefore, I have edited.
Well, he is not a candidate for anything now, so I fail to see how his GPA in high school, college, or law school is anyone’s business. Privacy, please.
That part is questionable. He is an elected public official aspiring to run for even higher positions and it makes sense to print his story as he positively turned his academic life around but including his transcript in the article, makes no sense, even if it’s publicly available for some reason.
