According to the Georgetown profile on the CollegeBoard website, the middle 50% Composite ACT range is 26 - 32. That profile also indicates that the “percent who submitted scores” for the ACT was 5%.

That range seems low based on our info sessions a year ago. I recall figures in the 29 - 34 range for the ACT. Those would match up fairly well with the 660-760 SAT CR and the 670-770 SAT Math for this years freshman class. Our son was admitted RD to the College and is a freshman. His numbers were 33 ACT and 740 CR, 750 Math. No hooks.

According to C011egepr0w1er, also, middle 50% is 26-33, with only 4% submitting.

Thanks for the responses.

I thought 26-33 was a bit low when I saw it on college websites.

@AvonHSDad: Did the 29-34 come from an information presentation Georgetown did?

31-34. I attended an official Georgetown tour this summer, and these were the numbers they put up. Competition has gone up. The CollegeBoard’s listing is outdated and inaccurate.

Do you think a 30 is doomed?

Yes, those figures came from an information session we attended in the summer of 2010. They also indicated that the trend was upward.

Another stat that was provided in the Convocation address this past August was that of the 1,624 new students in the class of 2015, 791 of them were 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their classes. The comments continued with a follow up statement that 788 of the class would not repeat.

Bottom line, the selectivity at Georgetown is getting tougher and the stats are getting higher.

“The comments continued with a follow up statement that 788 of the class would not repeat”

what does this mean? ^

I don’t think a 30 is doomed. I think a 30 with bad SAT 2 scores is doomed.

What it means is that 791 of the new freshmen who were either ranked 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their HS graduating classes will not be ranked 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their college graduating class in 4 years when they graduate from Georgetown as only the top 3 of them can fill those spots in the college class of 2015.

It also shows that if you are top ranked in your class, you may have a better chance of admission at Georgetown than if you are not top ranked in your class.

What about a 34 with 760 SATII Lit, 680 SATII USH, and 660 SATII Math II?

Akeibler–You have a good chance. What about class rank/GPA?

What about a 33 ACT and SAT II Literature 750 USH 790 and Chemistry 650? GPA 3.9 unw and 4.2 weighted? School doesn’t rank. Actually, why am I asking this? If I want to do a chance thread I should just start one with EC’s etc. Feel free to ignore…

Calmama–You’re definitely in Georgetown’s range. What are you trying to major in? the 650 will look bad if you are going into a math-related field, but other than that your stats are solid.

I actually threw it out there for my daughter (hence the Mama in my name:) ). She is undecided but leans towards communication or English. She has 5’s on APUSH, APEuro and APLang. so her bent isn’t towards maths and sciences, but towards humanities. Thanks for responding.

I meant to say science. Her stats are well above average. Good luck.
