I am new to this site!

My aspiration is to go to law school, and my dream is to get into Georgetown. I am a sophomore at USC, thus, I have enough time to get my GPA where it needs to be. I will also be taking my LSATS in the spring semester of next school year.

I was wondering if you could give me any tips, advice, or average GPA's and LSAT scores for Georgetown law school admissions. I am just beginning my research into this, so any information would be appreciated. =)

Average GPA is 3.68, and average LSAT is 170.

Tips: Getting into Georgetown Law straight out of undergrad is pretty tough. Many of the strongest applicants work or go to grad school for a few years first. To start at Georgetown right after undergrad, you’ll need to pretty well surpass averages and build a strong record of community involvement.

Thank you for those averages. And I had no idea that the strongest applicants don’t immediately apply to Georgetown law. Is that the case for most top law schools as well?

For the top twenty the strongest applicants will usually have done something before undergrad, the exceptions being Berkley, UCLA, Virginia, and Michigan where I would say you have a decent shot straight out of college. Georgetown ranks at 14, so you’ll have a better shot there than at many of the schools that rank above it. Exceptional undergrads who have above the average numbers and a strong EC/work/community service record won’t see too much difficulty. The important thing to remember is that the average age for a beginning law student is now 24-25, so it is becoming more and more common for people to take a year or two off to build themselves up before applying.
