I've been accepted to both Georgetown (School of Foreign Service) and to UPenn (College of Arts and Sciences). I'd be pursuing International Relations.
I'm hoping to study abroad for a semester, so I don't know how possible that will be at whichever institution I decide to go to. But I'm not focusing on studying abroad (again, I'd love to though).
Overall, which school do you recommend (academics, housing, social life, etc)?

If I were in your situation, I would chose Georgetown School of Foreign Service, especially since you are pursuing International Relations. Penn is a great school as well, but I am not sure how well it fares in political science and IR.

If you are focusing in International Relations, while the SFS doesn’t have a major called in that (they have culture and politics, international econ, international political economy regional and comparative studies, inter politics, inter history, and science tech and inter affairs) , it is still the premiere school in the foreign policy realm and would be my personal choice, especially since UPenn’s best school is Wharton while Gtown’s entire reputation is essentially the SFS. Your social life will also probably be better in Washington and you will be much safer, UPenn is located in a horrible part of Philadelphia while Gtown is on top of a hill in an incredibly rich area, though Washington is still very accessible.

^ I wouldn’t call it “horrible”. North Philadelphia is horrible, but Penn is located in University City, which is near Center City. Georgetown’s campus is comparably nicer though, and its location allows for connections and accessible internships.

Thanks!
I’ve been leaning towards Georgetown. @hotair, I’d major in Regional & Comparative Studies at the SFS, which was another factor pushing me towards gtown since I want to focus on a region.
The reason I’ve been hung up is because UPenn, is well, UPenn, and they also gave me a bit more money (not much of a difference so that’s a minor factor in my decision).
I’m visiting Georgetown this weekend, and I’m sure it’ll reaffirm my position.
