Georgetown University Class of 2022 EA Applicants Thread

did this happen last year? like, how many people did not get it within 4-5 days of getting mailed out?

deferred from SoCal around the LA area

Got my acceptance letter!!! From Illinois! For anyone else who got accepted, does it say which college you got into like SFS or Georgetown College???

Nvm, Got into SFS I just didn’t see it at the bottom of the Enrollment Agreement Form

@nwolny695 It doesn’t specifically say on the acceptance letter itself, but you got into wherever you applied. And on one of the additional papers it mentions something in passing about whichever specific college I think.

Ok I couldn’t comment on here for a while because my email sign up was not working but geez I’m stressed. I am In SoFlo and ran around outside like an insane person waiting for the mail today only for the guy to hand me a bed bath and beyond coupon book instead of a letter. I have a 1540 SAT with 790 on math and 750 on English. Some solid extra curriculars. Vice President of local 501c3 organization and president of mu alpha theta and NHS. I also danced a little and carried a job all last year. I have one now too. I’m part of maybe one minority group too. GU is my top school and I would LOVE to go there. I applied to MSB.

Nothing in the LA area for me, either. Does anybody know if there’s a specific time we have to wait for on Monday to call and ask for our decision from the Admissions Office, or can we do so as soon as possible that day?

I’m kind of freaking out right now because I’m starting to think that GT processed my application as RD instead of EA. I’ve had to call their office twice now to change my application because they kept reverting it Regular Decision. There’s no change in my portal, unlike you guys, so that’s why I’m worried…

Accepted in TN today! Good luck to everyone!!

@ecort1218 What changes in the portal?

@DCspartan Congrats! Are there any changes in your portal since being accepted?

@socalgal I’m sure you can call at anytime. I believe they close around 5 or 6.

@justliviglife Not that I can tell, but I’m not sure what I would be looking for

@DCspartan Me neither. There was a lot of chatter about portal changes this morning, but I don’t they change.

I just went back to posts from this morning. Someone called admissions and they said the online applicant portal has no connection to admissions. So, thanks for checking anyway!

@iwanttogotocollege Don’t be discouraged. Since the electronic age and the Common App came along, the college app process is a complete roll of the dice with so many applicants to each school. Where you get in is not who you are. You have some great schools on your list. Take the time with each application to communicate why that school is on your list, what it offers for you specifically and what contributions you hope to make to that school’s community.

GWU is a great school and not just for international relations but for many different areas of study. It is quite a different experience because of its urban campus. GWU students need to be more independent and require less hand holding. You have incredible resources available between Capitol Hill-legislators, lobbyists and staffers, the national museums, mainstream media outlets, government agencies, defense contractors, diplomats, NASA, NSA, medical and biomedical institutions, and so on and so forth, and your opportunities are endless. Students pass around internships on their club listservs. The White House is 3 blocks away and Secret Service will be some of the police you see daily in addition to metro police and GWU PD. The IMF runs along a corner of the campus.

UVA is large but feels small. The city has grown considerably in the past 20 years so you can get whatever you need in the surrounding area. Professors are highly qualified and there is a commitment to the Jefferson ideal which encourages faculty to get to know students, that their learning will be better served. Find your niche and the large school becomes small and comfortable. ACC athletics, major concerts, national relevance. Blue Ridge mountains, skyline Drive. World class medical facilties and education. Architecture,Commerce. Public Policy, Environmental Science, Engineering, Psyc, Education School and so on.Great school spirit. The Lawn. The Rotunda.

William and Mary. Definitely not urban but definitely an excellent school, beautiful setting. You have to be honest with yourself about how important an urban campus is to you. Lots of great schools that are not urban including W & M. W & M and UVA on Ds list. Her sister at GWU. Brother at UVA. Other brother at VT (remote, close community, great programs including engineering and agricultural pursuits).

@justliviglife Mine also has the box about applying again if you go through Georgetown’s website to get to applyweb, so that means nothing too.

@justliviglife A bunch of other people have said they’ve noticed a change in their Apply Web page, the comments are around page 30-40 of the forum

All this waiting has honestly started to decrease my stress. I’m not sure why

@iwanttogetintocollege Hey there! I saw you’re interested in UVA, I’m from VA (grew up a Wahoo) and I can vouch for its amazing-ness! I may be a little biased, but the atmosphere is so amazing, the campus is beautiful, and while it may not be a huge city, Charlottesville is amazing and close enough to DC that you won’t be limited in your opportunities for amazing internships! I even have a few friends studying business there that got internships in Chicago!! The university is truly amazing. Good luck in your endeavors!

Accepted in AZ to the SFS. I honestly can’t believe I got in. I thought I was a long shot for sure.
