For anyone that went/knows anything about Georgetown, is it a closed campus and is it scenic? Or is more of a bunch of buildings scattered around in the middle of the city?
Or the D.C. area as a whole for that matter. If I don’t like NYC would I also not like D.C.?
You need to look at the website for campus maps and pictures. And Google for a broader look-see. Check where your potential program meets. This sort of looking is what kids are meant to do. And learn up on DC. It’s mostly a beautiful place, especially near the U.
Have you run the net price calculators? Does it come out under $20k?
Gtown is in a lovely area of DC but if you don’t like NYC I don’t know why you would seek out urban colleges. Have you taken the time to look at the campus map (which includes photos of the campus)? https://maps.georgetown.edu/
It’s a little over $20k but still worth a shot. And true, but it’s definitely a little different than something like, say NYU.
It is definitely a different set up as compared to NYU.
Keep in mind that you need three SATII exams for Georgetown.
If necessary, you can get a virtual tour of the campus. Gorge Town campus is very beautiful in a great location.
Yea I know that
DC is a lovely city and Georgetown is definitely different than NYU.
If the NPCs came out within range, give it a try and see what happens. I assume your parents are ok with the numbers? Also remember…as stated …you need 3 subject tests for GT.
Georgetown student here. I love Georgetown’s campus. Georgetown is a neighborhood in D.C., and the buildings surrounding the campus are nice townhomes and some restaurants. M street, which is a few streets from the main campus, has tons of shops (often expensive, however) and restaurants. It’s certainly not in the middle of D.C. like NYU is in the middle of NYC. Even if it were, D.C. is very different from NYC, in my opinion.
If you don’t want an urban school then I think Georgetown should certainly be on your list. However, if you’re looking for a school like Wesleyan, Middlebury, BC, Wellesley, etc. (location-wise) then I’m not sure. If you’re able to, visit. It’s a wonderful place with lots to do. In fact, many students complain about getting stuck in the Georgetown bubble (meaning they just stay on campus and the surrounding area instead of venturing into D.C.). Having the opportunity to go into D.C. if one wishes is also great
Thank you, this is very helpful!! And I’m taking my 3 subject tests in August, what kinds of scores will GT look for/be happy with?
@nickthekid it depends on what you want to major in/the test. You should aim for all 3 to be at least 700+ but even better if 740+
Sounds good thanks
