Georgia Gwinnett College - Worried

I applied to GGC for this fall but I finished my high school education back in California. On GGC’s website, it said I need 4 years of math. Technically I do, but I do two years of Algebra II since I failed the first year. Will this hinder my admission decision? Or is this requirement only if I finished my high school education in Georgia? Thank you.

Repeating the same course will not be considered two years but only 1. If you therefore have only three years of at math, you are likely to have a real admission issue because that 4 year requirement is a state requirement set for entry into any Georgia public university regardless of where you went to high school. Do you have any other combination of four years of math? For example, the four years do not necessarily have to be from high school and if, if for example, you took high school level Algebra 1 in eigth grade it would count as long as your transcript showed it. Also, a statistics course could possibly qualify. You likely need to contact the university to determine what if anything canbe done if you do not have four years, e.g., could you sign up for a community college math course now that could qualify? Could you be admitted subject to the condition of taking a math course in the summer at a CC? It is best you find out your possibilities now rather than wait for a decision to be made.

GGC is pretty open-admissions but they do require 4 years of math (even integrated math, slower-paced math, etc.) - you need to check with the college itself in order to see whether it applies to OOS applicants with OOS high school transcripts.
