***Georgia Tech Class of 2020 EA Applicant Thread***

@direstraits25 Yup. CBSE. I didn’t explain the deflation in any way because (although they do know what and why it happens, I attended a UPenn, Stanford, Columbia admissions event where they touched upon it and said they understood), everyone I’ve talked to in US universities says that unless the deflation is due to things such as family problems, natural disasters, etc., you’re just putting a bad name on yourself.

If i take pre-calc, can i still get in?

@hellolol ouch, I did explain to two colleges how and why my school deflates grades in class 11th. I think I just heard my heart wince lol. I don’t know how much this damages my impression because despite the deflation I’m still in the top ten percent of my class, and I paid special attention to the wording so I didn’t sound whiny. Plus I do believe my teacher hinted at a predicted percentage in her recommendation. Let’s see how it unfolds.

@direstraits25 I’m pretty sure it doesn’t have that a great impact. I didn’t mean to get you worried :-S Even I am in the top 10% after deflation (no matter how terrible that percentage is, 11th grade is a funny place).
Plus you explained the system and if you didn’t sound whiny then I’m sure it’s cool.
Ultimately what matters is whether you’ve challenged yourself and the teachers reflect that in the recommendations!
I’m worried because of my test scores :confused:

@hellolol I hope you’re right! :slight_smile:
Hahaha when a desi person says they’re worried about their test scores, they’re generally somewhere around the 2300 mark LOL. In any case, I’m sure you’ll be fine! After living in India for so long, it’s easy to forget that you’re more than your test scores, but the great thing about US admissions is that they consider everything about you. Plus you seem very well versed with the whole process, I’m sure you did a lot of research and that’s bound to pay. I hope it works out for you! :slight_smile:

Another Indian right here!

Wow, so many of us! We ought to meet up after the admission process is over and pat each other’s back for making it through lol

Well, just two days left!

@direstraits25 I hope you’re right and no, not a 2300 xD
Not even close. I sent my ACT scores though

@direstraits25 , @hellolol I get annoyed by Indians who say “I did bad- got a 95. Wish I had gotten a 98.” I’m all like - chill out, lol.

@Rahulbarcafan currently I am in the US, I’m in state-Georgia. Lol, but I did do my third grade from India. :slight_smile: I went to school in Noida haha. But I’m from uttrakhand (deheradun) and Kashmir.

@Sashathepug16 was not expecting u to be Indian. For some reason I thought u were African American… I was thinking about Sasha from the bratz collection lol.

@3xploit I dont know honestly. But if u have the scores (1900 +) and the GPA (3.75+), you should be good! Good luck!

@hellolol yes, I scrolled up and saw your ACT score. It’s pretty solid, nothing to fret about. Plus I’m sure a tech school like GTech will be happy to see a math score like yours!

@Xboxgamergirl I hear ya, girl! Every kid in my class is like that lol

@Xboxgamergirl
It’s just that…we’re so competitive!

@direstraits25 I like when people are so positive thank you xD

@Xboxgamergirl Hey I go to school in Noida right now (have been since forever haha)!

All of us Indians should meet one day that would be so cool

@hellolol oh my god you’re in Noida? I live really close! I’m in New Delhi! The meetup thing is totally possible hahaha

@Xboxgamergirl lol well I’m from South India so I’m still not completely like most people here

@direstraits25 I actually live in New Delhi! School is in Noida. This is great :))

Lol…im indian too (if ur indian u can tell by my username LOL) I live in the states but i completed my 3rd in india too, which pretty similar to @Xboxgamergirl and I am orginially from New Delhi!

OMG So many Indians on our thread, is it close to 90% of the people on here? I am South Indian living in GA (In-state for Tech). Anyways, Indian score thresholds can be stressful (I did my 6th to half of 11th grade in India CBSE).
