EDIT: Ayyy, post #1000!
The housing tab is fixed. In past years also it has been fixed. It is no indicator of acceptance and it wasn’t last year when I applied to Tech. The only indicator was the 4th tab providing campus services information with a graduation date. This used to be a glitch on Tech’s part in previous years. Moreover, please don’t rely on assumptions to guess your decision. You will know your decision at 12 PM tomorrow.
Is 4th tab problem also fixed this year?
@Kazoo98 Tech has your school profile which your counsellor should have sent. They will look at the index of courses (AP or IB) offered by the school on the school profile. Then they will count the number and the type of courses you have taken. By type I mean subject.(Is the subject challenging and related to your major?) If you have taken a number of courses with examinations that is close to the number offered by your school, then you have demonstrated great course vigor and challenged yourself well! They dont worry about the length of time those courses were taken over. Further, AP and IB scores are used by Tech only for placement purposes and transfer credit. Not used so much for admission decisions.
@kazoo98. Hope they do. Same situation with my kid. Block scheduling.

Was the average ACT score reported by @jym626 just on the basis of English and math scores or was it the composite score? My E+M avg is 35 and my composite is a 34
@kumar212 My school offers 12 AP classes. The 4 I didn’t take were AP World History, AP Art History, AP Gov, and AP Language. Would that be considered high rigor?
My school has many pre-requisites. I had to get through Honors Physics to get to AP, and the same for all the AP Sciences. Also I’m in a graphics class and was in cooking for graduation requirements. Does GT understand circumstances like these?
@anotherdude Those scores are both higher than what @jym626 posted. No need to worry.
Remember: An average is the middle 50%, so there are students above and below that range. If you are above it, there is not a reason to be worried.
The fact that decisions are out in almost 11 hours is another reason not be worried. There’s nothing you can do at this time. That is a good reminder for everyone.
This whole process will be over soon enough. Just try not to get too worked over it. Whatever happens, it will not be the end of the world. The admissions counselors are good at what they do. It is not all about scores, or grades, or rankings. They conduct a holistic review, so if you find yourself denied, it is probably because Georgia Tech is not a good match for you in some way. It is disappointing, since everyone wants to go to a great school with great academics, but in the end, you should go to a school that is best fitted for YOU. If the decision is a denial, then Tech probably isn’t that fit.
Decisions are not based upon yourself personally, so do not take a decision to heart. (Even the accepted students. Don’t let the acceptance make you too prideful) A deferral or denial is not based off of your personality or anything of the such, so if you do get a decision like so, please do not think that you are worthless or anything. It is not that. You are all still great people, hard working and deserving. There is limited space at Tech, so not everyone with amazing stats can be admitted (especially since it isn’t all about the stats).
This is for everyone, not just anotherdude.
Sorry this post is so long, but everyone has been stressing so much about college, which is to be expected. You all have probably heard these words before, but they are important to keep in mind as the decision release gets closer.
i am wondering the same thing about whether the average act score reported was just the E+M or the total composite
Alright a couple of points I want to make for all of you awaiting your decision:
I know it is tough waiting, but hang in there. Good luck to all applicants.
@anotherdude I guess schools like MIT are crapshoots, you can’t really feel bad if you got rejected. Hang in there mate
Rehashing a previous question- does gatech consider only ACT ENGLISH and MATH. As in, if I have a 34 ACT composite and 35-E and 36-M, will it be recorded as a 36 recalculated composite by tech?
Just hope its an E_M composite that they look at . I have a 34 , but a lower composite (31)
Yep, same here. My composite was a 28, but M+E is a 31 (33M + 29E), so let’s hope it’s just M+E
My ACT maths is 35, English is low, M+E is 31. But, my TOEFL score is 113. I’m just holding on to hope now xD
@hellolol the TOEFL doesn’t make a difference, it just has to be over the minimum. There is no difference if someone gets a 90 or 120 on the TOEFL, they just need to pass the minimum requirement.
I got a 118/120 TOEFL ibt score, but I realised later that I don’t even have to submit it.
@hellolol @GustafAngus yep. The TOEFL doesn’t count much. I scored a 119 but I didn’t submit a score report.
@GustafAngus @direstraits25 I know, I submitted it because it was pretty good. Also, most people I know submitted their TOEFL scores (even though we knew it wasn’t needed), just sent it as an additional thing.
Just 6 hours to go! Hopefully we’ll all hear some good news later tonight
