Hi!
I’ve heard that Georgia Tech’s ECE program is fantastic and I got in RD.
I’m a little concerned about its general location in Atlanta - safety issues, etc., since people say there’s a lot of crime in that area. I’ve also heard the dorms + food at Georgia Tech aren’t that great.
Is what I’ve heard true?

There is crime in the area but not much on campus. I would not go wandering through the neighborhoods at night. You’ll be fine during the day and to/from downtown or Buckhead or on Marta. The dorms are much like any other college dorms, though some of them were built for the Atlanta Olympics and are nice, but not like ones built in the last ten years at other universities nor possessing the charm of dorms from the 1920’s & 30’s… The athletic facilities are amazing (also built for Olympics). Food choices are limited in the area, mostly just OK, some fast food in Tech square. Dorm food is not exceptionally good or bad, and there are other campus eateries that a small step up. There is lots of carry out delivering to the camps.
