Georgia Tech vs Rice

Hello Everyone,
I am trying to decide between Georgia Tech’s engineering program, and Rice’s for next year. I want to study nanotechnology, and I want to hopefully join an entrepreneurship program at these colleges like: Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship and GT’s Venture Lab. Which program do you think is better?

I’d probably lean a bit toward GT because of the more developed tech community in Atlanta and Scheller. You will receive a different type of education at a large vs small school. Rice is going to have smaller class sizes and a more intimate atmosphere, and you may not be doing all that much in nanotech for a few years even as an undergrad research assistant at either school.

Is there a cost difference? GT doesn’t give much FA if you not in-state but it is practically free with state scholarships. Rice is better with FA. I’d apply to both-and a few more-see where you get in.

Are you in-state for tech? How much does financial aid matter for you?

Fit is personal to you. If you can share what you are looking for in your college experience some here can help guide you. Have you visited the schools?

Unless you double deposited and waited long after the deadline to make your decision, why are you trying to figure out which school you should attend?

Presumably you haven’t been admitted to either school. Why not just apply to both?

One is a large public school, one is a small private school with the unique residential college system. The college experience is quite different between them. I would definitely recommend a visit.

But yes see how admissions fall. I assume you are in-state for Georgia Tech, but Rice is pretty difficult school to be admitted to.
