Our HS freshman son had 1 year of german in MS. A language teacher in his HS is tutoring him after school. After their first few meetings, the teacher told us that our son has a “rare aptitude for language acquisition” and recommended [dig], an immersion program for young adults in Graz, Austria. This teacher attended an adult summer session while in college. Our son is excited and is working a part time job to help with the cost, so we know he is dedicated. I’m wondering is anyone has sent a 15 year old oversees for this sort of program?
I (15 y.o.) personally went to a program from the Goethe-Institut. It’s the German national language institute. They have summer programs throughout Germany. The cost is relatively low (compared to other such programs) and the quality of the education is very good. Airport transfers were available. The whole experience felt safe. Nothing to worry about. It’s true “immersion” as it’s coordinated by Germans.
Thank you for that information. Very interesting website- we are located near big US city where they have a program as well.
