I dont even know if I can get into Williams.. but what I want to know is that is it easy to get jobs overseas in countries like the UK, Japan and Singapore after graduating with a degree from Williams? I know Williams is top notch and I love it.. but is it known throughout the world.. can I get a job if I decide not to go to graduate school?

jhl, we live in that big unruly country just south of Singapore and I can tell you that Williams is not a household name, here or anywhere in Asia. When I tell my Asian colleagues that my son graduated from Williams I get blank looks or even sympathy: Too bad he couldn't get into a *good *school. :)

So if worldwide name recognition is important to you, look elsewhere. Having said that what it takes to get a job overseas is something entirely different.

Many corporations and NGOs are globally connected, and their HR departments know and respect Williams.

Your Williams professors will know you personally and will write knock out recommendations.

You will have access to the best in the way of internships which will open all sorts of doors, as will the network of alums in top positions worldwide.

And the confidence, communication skills and intellectual acumen will become self-evident.

Momrath, thanks..

I am not looking for a worldwide name recognition.. I am just being pragmatic.. I love Williams there's no doubt about this.. but the fact is isn't it very hard for a foreigner to get a working visa in the US these days? So most likely I'll need to get a job overseas..

The best way to go is probably by getting a graduate degree.. but I do not know how hard it is to get into the best graduate schools and whether I want to continue studying..

williams is an excellent stepping stone into grad schools. I was at a conference this weekend and met someone who had only heard of williams because of its extremely high rate of acceptance into med schools, law schools, and other graduate programs. check out Williams College | Admission | Explore | After Williams for some crazy statistics about grad school acceptance rates.

Do international students get into top grad school as easily as US citizens if they graduate and take all their opportunities at Williams?..
