Getting a score 2300+ on the SAT

Hello.
I have the Collegeboard online course , a Blue Book , The Princeton Review Cracking The SAT , Barron's Verbal Workbook ( all hand me downs except the course) .On the SAT pretest , I got a 1950 cold , and then after 2 weeks preparation , increased to a 2240 . Do you think I will be able to hit 2300+ or even 2400 by the october test with only self study ( I got 800 in maths , 730 in writing , 710 in reading) of these books and course? Or should I enroll in some coaching? Just asking so that I can be ready for competitive admissions to top colleges ( my EC's are quite good and different and so are my grades) .

I think it’s possible, but you’ll have to do a lot of practice and really make sure you know why the correct answers are correct and the incorrect answers aren’t. I got a 2230 (710 M, 740 CR, 780 W) after being told by my parents that with the kind of preparation I’d done I’d be lucky to break 2000, so who knows?

Sure … I have 3 months of back - breaking work to do(mostly not too back breaking) … so I will do my best with prep …

1950 to 2240 in just 2 weeks? That’s pretty impressive imo. With three months time, you could definitely do it, but, of course, it’ll become harder to improve as you go higher.

You definitely don’t need coaching or a tutor; those things are a waste of money in my opinion. At this point, one of the only things you could really do is take practice tests. Writing usually goes up quickly with practice tests and getting close to 800 in writing is definitely doable in the time given. Reading would require practice as well, but would be harder in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback … the main problem in reading for me is the reading passages … the ones we had in school are super straightforward … I can manage most vocab questions …
