Getting accepted into a good school

My recent high schools years have been rough, i have went through a lot of personal problems with my family which effected my grades alot. i currently have a 1.7. But im just starting my senior year. I was wondering if i get straight A’s my first and second quarter before i apply to schools and get a high ACT score do i have a chance of getting into colleges?? and i do not want to go to community college at all. Thanks

What is your definition of a good school? Depending on your test scores it is possible for you to get accepted to a college, but probably not one that is highly reputable. Going to a CC and getting really good grades before transferring would probably be your best option. I don’t understand your aversion to CC’s.

I think that if you have a 1.7 after 3 years, the likelihood that you would get straight A’s and high test scores is very low. Not being mean, and I hope you do well, but odds are odds. Your college application is not influenced much by your senior year performance in any case. You might be better off starting in community college to buff your credentials and then transferring to a more competitive school.

I agree, hit the books in community college, get straight A’s on your pre-reqs and you’ll save money on the less expensive college tuition.

Right now, you don’t qualify for selective colleges. Working hard now and getting the highest grades you can, to prepare you for community college success and good grades there, is a worthy goal, because if you stengthen your high school background you’ll have to spend less time in community college, and if you’re well-prepared for CC, you can then transfer to the best universities in your state… and, when you graduate, you graduate from the 4-year university.
This year, you should have 1 of each: English, Math, Social Science/History, Science, Foreign Language.
Ideally, you’d have taken (and passed) math to Algebra 2 or above, 4 years of English, US History and two other social science classes, biology, chemistry, and another science class, and reached level 2 or 3 in a foreign language, plus one art class, one class in personal finance/economics, Health, and PE over the course of your 4 years in high school.
How are you doing wrt that curriculum?
