getting in....my chances

<p>Hi, I'm an International student wondering about my chances at Yale...</p>

<p>languages: German(spoken at home), English, French, Spanish, and Latin(only translating)</p>

<p>SAT(old one): 1380 (V:620,M:760)
ACT: just took it yesterday but should be in the 30's
SAT2: MathIC:790, World history:800, Literature:740</p>

<p>EC:
Austrian Youth Red Cross>I reorganized the Youth Red Cross team at my school, represented my school(9-12grade), YRC Headgirl of the State(11-12), I organized 3 big projects(one supporting a child in an orphanage in Bulgaria, a fund raiser for Tyrolean kids who grow up under terrible social conditions, a information project day for Africa+fund raiser for a school in Tansania) where I had to coordinate the work of 300+ people, I represented the whole Tyrolean Secondary School System at the state Meeting of the Youth Red Cross(All the other people at this meeting where 30 years or older)</p>

<p>Volleyball: Started Volleyball in 5th grade, played school varsiety through all my High School Years, I was captain of the team for the last 2 years, I played in the Team of Tyrol(state), I was captain of my Volleyball Club(out of School) and we took 4th place in the state competition, I played several international tournaments</p>

<p>Help for the Old(9th grade): Once a week I spent three houres in a nursing home talking and playing with old people who don't have relatives or friends who come to visit</p>

<p>We for Kids(12th grade): Once a week I spent two houres working with elementary school kids whose native language isn't German. I supervised them while doing homework and helped to prepare for the next school day. This Project won the "Gloria 2005" Social Prize(there were 40 other projects nominated)</p>

<p>Chemistry Club(9-12th grade): In 2002 I qualified for the state championship. I took 6th place and was awarded best girl in the competition, I also had the highest score in the practical part with 34.5 out of 35 points
Because of my participation in the chemistry club I had the chance to present an experiment during my Chemistry Matura</p>

<p>Special Design Class: I not only took the elective art classes of my school but also had the opportunity to participate in the free private lessons with Prof. Helene Bockberger(she had her own dressing line). In 2003 I participated in the "Lichtblicke" Project and was able to exhibit a lamp which I designed and built myself.</p>

<p>Piano: Since I'm 8 years old I play the piano...I played several presentations at the local conservatory.</p>

<p>Honors: I graduated with"academic excellence"(highest honor you can earn in Austria), and also got an "academic excellence" for my 12th grade transcript. In 2002 and 2005 I had the chance to participate in programs of the National Society for talented and gifted Youth. I worked for 1 week in the management department of an insurance and got a budget(50.000$) with which I could do wathever I wanted as long as it helped to promote the new mascot of the insurance. In 2005 I had the unique opportunity to spent a week in the laboratories of Swarovski and not only watch the producing of the world wide known cristalls, but also produce my own one.
I got the 3 leadership awards for the projects I organized for the Youth Red Cross.</p>

<p>Matura: English2, German2, Math1, Psychology/Philosophy1, Art1, Chemistry1+Chemistry in English1 (1-5 scale with 1 being the best)</p>

<p>work experience: Because of the time intensive austrian School system it isn't possible to work during the school year. summer 2003 I worked for 1 month at an Insurance Company(38houres per week) and in summer 2004 I worked at the local bank in the logistic department(38h). In summer 2005 I started working as an Au Pair in California(45 houres per week), I will go on with this job until summer 2006.</p>

<p>education: Akademisches Gymnasium Innsbruck(1997-2005), Exchange Year at Spanish Fork High School in Utah(2003), right now I take classes in the Stanford University Continuing Education Programm for Credit</p>
