What should someone to in college in order to get into HMS

Get a perfect GPA (or extremely high), score high on the MCAT, lots of volunteer/work experience in the medical field... Even then, it's not a guarentee simply because there are many highly qualified people, and only a few spots (in 2004, about 5500 people applied for 165 spots)

Yeah HMS has a 3% acceptance rate. So you need to WOW them.

Why HMS though? Unlike normal undergrad a name doesn't play much of a role in medicine. That is of course unless you want to do academic medicine or become a high up at a hospital.

I like HMS because they are top notch, and in high school i dont think
I got challenged to my potential, and I think I have a lot more that I can do with my life... sorry if got philosophical

can u give some example of how I can WOW them like what kind of volunteer work, I am probable going to a state school for a free ride, so where will if find the opportunity to do EC,

I like what Loganr just mentioned. Just what would one need to "wow" HMS?

I read from an article about this guy from princeton getting into HMS.
here are is credential...

valadictorian

top notch reasearch( I think he got published too)

president of lots of things

so the wow factor is maybe
get the best grades, get published, show leadership,

Well... Valadictorian of Princeton isn't exactly probable for those wanting to getting into HMS.

2nd and 3rd I could understand.

omfg look at this- a guy got into harvard med school with a 2.97 GPA and 24 MCAT! this has to be a total fraud...

Even if I get in, I would not want to be at that end of the spectrum

***..."valedictorian" of Princeton?

As far as I know, there's no such thing.

You guys are way too young to be worrying about HMS. Worry first about scheduling your classes your first year at your university.
