I guess you could be correct??

I would like to see a poll on taken this subject. I have a feeling most students would have rather had the summer off. You maybe correct.

I am aware that some students have made it here to UF with mediocre stats.

@GatorPhysics: mid tier? I highly disagree. It’s not at the ivy league level, I can say that, but UF is definitely a top tier school, one of the best in the country. People might be going just a “little” overboard when they say it’s a public-ivy, but it’s definitely top tier; and I’m not saying that because I attend UF and may be a little biased toward it when talking about it lol

I don’t fully agree with this statement.

I remember that the day after admissions were made last year, there were lots of postings on college confidential from kids who inexplicably did NOT get into UF, who had very good stats, often complaining about high school classmates with less stellar stats getting in.

So while it is true that plenty of people with just OK stats get in, for whatever reason, there are some people with very good stats who did NOT get in.

^ Second that

I know many qualified students that did not get accepted. I agree that demographics can be a hinderance. If there are many great private and public schools in your area, you have a lot of competition.

How many of the current students find UF way to big?? Just curious.

It’s big but…really, a lot of it is like research facilities and stuff, probably, and I’m going to do something I usually don’t like very much, but if I had to pull a random number from thin air and estimate how much of the UF campus a student would typically be exploring for the majority of their time…I’d say it’s about 40%. The freshman and where most of them are housed are all very close to eachother

I can actually attest to this. In my school, for the past few years the top 5% exclusively have gotten into UF.

what are my chances of getting in? 3.4 unweighted gpa and 5.5 weighted(took many AP and dual enrollment classes, rank of 79 out of about 370 students, 1870 on old SAT and 1250/1600 on new… I got A& B’s all of high school except junior year I received a C in one semester of a dual enrollment class at the college and a C in Algebra 2. Will this prevent me from getting in?
