Getting into Vanderbilt?

This will be my final resume when I apply:

Academic:
3.8 GPA
Top 5%
All Ap/honors classes
ACT 31

In-school:
3 years Student Council (Student Body President)
3 years BETA Club
2 years Interact
2 years NHS (President)
Only student in class selected for Girl's State by faculty
Governor's Schoo

Outside school:
Community service organization
Member of Statewide Student Council Board

I hate to be judged by my application -- I wish it were based upon my character instead.

What do you think?

Based off of your GPA and exc’s, I would be surprised if you didn’t get in. My sister got in with a 3.5 and barely any exc’s and she played no sports, but she did write a killer essay.

GPA and ACT are a little low. If you can, I would retake the ACT and aim for a 34+. GPA also could be higher (although that’s offset by being in the Top 5% of your class, I suppose).

Your ECs are strong from your school, but nothing spectacular, to be honest. It looked like your leadership positions are basically in Student Council and NHS, which is impressive, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t know if it’s enough to get you in.

I’m no expert, but I’d say your chances at Vanderbilt are no higher than 50%, and not nearly as easy as the poster above makes it seem (Vandy’s acceptance rate is 18%, remember). I think it’s a toss-up if you get in or not, honestly. Then again, I’m no expert.

Good luck! :)

Thank you both!
Forgot to mention cheerleader of 5 years (2 in high school) if that makes a difference at all.

Oh! I meant 3.9. 3.8 would not be top 5% at my school…
