Getting noticed early

I’m a sophomore in high school, have top notch grades, solid ec’s, and will hopefully get great standardized test scores. However, there’s thousands of others whose resume may look just like mine. Is there any way to get noticed early, maybe have an admissions officer in your region know a little about you before you even apply? Some way to get a jump start? -----Thanks

Being a nationally competitive athlete will get the attention of Harvard’s coaches.

Miles to go, OP.

You are only a sophomore. Don’t live your life so as to get into any school. Seriously. Ironically living your life to get in is exactly the way NOT to get in (see gibby’s link above). Try not to focus on grades and stats, and try not to think of life in competitive terms. Work hard, enjoy what you learn, hang out with friends, develop as a person, do things outside of school that you really love to do, and everything will work out in the end, whether at Harvard or somewhere else. Seeking a jump start, ahead of others, is, to be frank, exactly the wrong kind of goal

Thanks for the good advice!

Good luck with whatever you end up doing and wherever you end up!

The best way to get noticed early will be to do what you suggest and try to get on an admissions officer’s radar screen. Unfortunately, they would remember you in a negative way if you did this! Work hard, be nice and try to do something you love with great effort. Then, hope for the best. That’s all you can really do. There’s no gaming the system.
