Getting Rec. letters for internship

I noticed a really good internship program my school informed of that I am interested in. It is in Washington, DC and politically oriented. My major is Poli Sci and I am planning on attending law school in a few years. My problem is that I don't know who I should get my rec. letters from. I am a sophomore, but I have only taken two very simple poli sci classes that I got easy A's in without ever speaking to my professors or TAs. I am sure they have seen me and can identify me, but they know nothing else about me other than the high grades I got in their classes.

Would it be wise to approach these "strangers" and ask them to write me a recommendation letter?

I have also interned before for the local congressman's campaign (I actually only met him once). Would it be wise to contact his office and see if my former supervisor would also write one?

Have you made a connection with any of your professors, even outside of your major? Or perhaps an office manager in the congressman’s office? I would imagine that a letter from someone who really knows you would be more persuasive than a generic two sentence letter that says “tomjennings took PoliSci 101 in Spring 2012. He got an A in the class.” And take note for the future - consider the networking to be part of the course requirements!
