I have a final appointment with my MD of 30+ years, who is retiring. It has always been a professional relationship, but I’d like to say thank you in some way. Just a card with thank-you note? Office flowers? Small plant? Suggestions?
Card with thank you note. No physical items. Think of how many patients he/she has and how many might be contemplating getting physical plants, flowers, food, etc.
Words mean a lot!
Another vote for card with a personal note from you.
If you really want a thing, then definitely something consumable.
A Korean family I treated gave me a beautiful lacquered jewelry music box, that played a traditional Korean folk song, when I retired (I’m not Korean). I don’t really use much jewelry, but I really love that object, and it makes me think of them whenever I see it. But the best gifts for me have been thoughtful cards/letters. Once I got a really great poem! I appreciated a hydrangea bush that one family gave me.
