I got the Naked Roommate for our oldest. I thought it was helpful, he did not :D.

Now that we know where DD is going, she will be getting a Keurig Coffee Maker at some point between now and then. She loves to make Chi Tea and Hot Cocoa with ours. I will probably get her a mini one.

Great, great book IMHO. I got the naked roommate book for my son and have given it for gifts several times. S2 took it to school with him first year. Tbh, I didn’t notice if it went back with him second year. I wouldn’t be surprised either way. On one hand, second year been there/done that, on the other hand he just packed up his bookshelf last May and I think the box went right back in August the same way. He’s got the same rm and they are very close so I think they are really good at communication.

Things my daughter got and appreciated: rain boots (those cool ones all the girls wear with the funky patterns), vera bradley tote bag that fits her laptop, barnes and noble gift card (which can be used in her college’s bookstore), bed bath and beyond gift card (most kids do at least some of their dorm room shopping there).

I also got her a nice heavy parka (but I knew all the schools she was applying to were located in the northeast).

A friend bought her the college survival kit - it was cute - had lots of stuff like laundry bag, aspirin, toolkit, sticky tack, etc. - all in a small plastic case.

I would suggest an alarm clock (wish we had bought her one before she went to school - the alarms on her phone/computer are just not reliable enough).

I did get her a duffle bag but she did not end up taking it to college with her.

Maybe other personal appliances which they will take with them (and leave the family one behind) - waterpik, hair dryer, curling iron, electric razor, etc.

How 'bout a warm robe that she can use this winter and then take to school with her? We had a heck of a time finding a robe for our daughter this summer (the stores only had the short silky ones, not the warm snuggly kind), and I remember wishing I had gotten her one for Christmas!
