Gigantic ads in the middle of threads

Right now on this page, I have an ad that is an autoloading video (Macbook with some random version of Chrome because I’ve been too lazy to update the OS).

@patsmom in my experience, the adblocker slows down not only this site…but everything else on my iPad.

If I need an adblocker, I will just stop using this site.

And CC is free, so the ads come with the territory.

On my iPhone right now, with a big uber ad in the middle of this thread

@twoinanddone I don’t mind some ads…but top, bottom, sides and middle?

Combined with the more spread out layout (and fewer posts per page) CC adopted a couple years ago it’s now deteriorating into a collage of ads with a sprinkling of posts in my opinion.

Just switched to my tablet and the ad takes up a full screen.

Does anyone LOOK at the final result before doing this stuff? Or rather WHO is looking at it?

This is why UX design is a big thing these days.

Not only does it appear, I can be reading a thread and have the screen jump yo accommodate the ad. So reading is interrupted.

It is awful. If this site becomes difficult/unappealing to use do to excessive/intrusive ads CC should expect traffic/usage to suffer.

@CCadmin_Sorin The ads are most definitely visible on mobile devices.

AdBlock is your friend. It doesn’t slow down my computer at all.

its on the ipad, not the computer

On my phone, I swipe left to get to bookmarks and it jumps back to center. I repeat swipe and it jumps back again. Not graceful or elegant, as they say in tech.

@MaineLonghorn I tried Adblock on my iPad…and it practically made the device non-functional…slowed everything down…everything. So I removed it.
