Girl from the south; any tips about SSAT, interviewing, essay, etc?

Hi, I’m a Korean girl in 8th grade from the south of US. I go to a public school that makes me ashamed. The teachers don’t teach in a way that makes you interested, the kids don’t work, and the clubs are a mess. Out of a graduating senior class in my local high school (about 400-500 students), only about 10-20 students go to college outside of our state. I’m desperate to get out of here.

Applying to: St.Andrews, Peddie, Loomis Chaffee, Hotchkiss, Groton, Concord, Choate, and Milton.

I’m taking my first SSAT in one month. My mock test ranges around 70%-87% (for overall score), and i’m hoping that these scores will improve. My weakest section is Verbal (about 50%) strongest being math (about 95%).

Extracurriculars: Like I mentioned above, the clubs are a mess. Either you don’t do anything during meetings, or there are like 3 meetings a year. Regardless, I’m the secretary of Student Council, member of NJHS, orchestra, and the art club. Outside of school I do piano, tennis, and swimming. Tennis and swimming are just for the hobby; nothing competitive. Piano: i’ve won several awards, nothing big like state or national. I participate in competitions such as UIL or spelling bee in my region and have won first place several times.

Grades: all a’s, never below a 92. I skipped a grade in math, so I’m in geometry pre-ap.

i’m really outgoing, so i’m hoping that the interview will go fine.
i’m really worried tho bc i don’t have anything “special”. I feel like everything I have is just average. I know this all depends on the case, but i can’t help but asking: what are my chances??
any tips??? anything would help: how to bump up SSAT scores, interviewing, etc.

thnx,
xx tacoluvz
