Global Poverty and Practice 115 (GPP 115)

I added GPP 115 yesterday and missed the lecture on Thursday and discussion on Friday, so I have no idea what's going on in the class. Is anyone here taking it?

I can't find any course information anywhere. There appears to be no bspace site, and I can't find a site for the class either. I can't find an email address to contact a GSI either.

Also, how do I get into the class? Currently wait-listed but there's plenty of space in my discussion.

Does anyone have any clues? Thanks for all your help.

There was a bSpace when I was enrolled in the class. You should email the head GSI. Here’s her email:

If you get in, do you need the Poverty Capital book? I’m no longer taking the class.

Hi Forblueskies,

I’m curious to know who you had for discussion. Currently enrolled in the class as a transfer student (my first semester!) and would like to ease into CAL life. Having the right GSI, I heard, makes all the difference during this transitional period. It makes it less stressful as one tries to get acclimated to the academic rigors of CAL. Your input is most appreciated.

Hi ayan613:

I never had a chance to have discussion - I was dropped from the course the day after because I’m a freshman. Besides the head GSI, I spoke with another GSI who I found very helpful and whose name I can disclose to you in a PM. I didn’t interact with them in a discussion section, but I think what’s important in succeeding in your discussion is always trying to be actively engaged, whether it’s making comments and asking questions, or just listening tentatively to others and your GSI. Enjoy the class!

forblueskies,

Yes pm me please- would like to know who the helpful GSI is. Thanks!
