I have been accepted to GLS at NYU.
I’m trying to decide if I want to start in NYC or Paris.
Can anyone help me? Any stories? Any advice?
Paris is a fantastic city. Many students start there and then return to NYC. That way you get some continuity for the remainder of your studies. Hard to go wrong either way however.
Freshman year in New York is an experience that you don’t get any of the other years because of the cohort program and freshman-only living, as well as joining clubs straight off the bat and generally figuring out the city along with 3,000 other freshmen. Coming back as a sophomore you still have to figure out NYC and the craziness that is NYU New York for the first time, but all your classmates already have it (somewhat) figured out. However, most people I know who went abroad their Freshman year loved it–they made great friends in a smaller community and, like exlibris said, the rest of their time at NYU isn’t broken up.
Just for anyone interested, I ended up choosing Paris. I could not pass up such a unique and interesting experience.
Didn’t realize you get a choice, since you had to put down 1st choice, etc. Did you have all 5 options to choose from…or how did it work?
@magscribe You don’t always get a choice. With your acceptance letter, you options will be listed. I applied ED1 and all 5 options were available to me.
@nyuabroad what are your credentials?
