Does anyone know if GMU or JMU is better for undergrad economics? My son wants to go to either GMU or JMU and then transfer to either UVA or W&M (his first choices but got rejected from there). Does it matter what school he'll be transferring from?

Someone else posted a similar question last week. GMU has a very strong Economics department. I believe it is in the top 5 in the nation. They draw professors from the DC area (which in these economic times may be good or bad!!!) and have speakers on the topic often.

Are you talking about undergrad or grad program?

You might also want to post this on the Transfer Students forum.

If he wants to major in economics, he should just go to GMU and stay there. He won’t find a better place in Virginia for that particular major.

GMU for sure.
