going all digital with a tablet pc

Lately, I've been looking at purchasing a tablet pc to take with me to UCLA. The idea is that I'd use it for all note-taking purposes where I'd normally use a pen and a paper. I'm a science major, so I was hoping that it would help me with drawing diagrams and charts along with keeping all my notes organized. Has anyone on the forum had any experience with using a tablet pc in class to take notes? How helpful is it? Also, how common are tablet pcs at UCLA?

i remember people recommended a couple good tablet pcs in the threads earlier, they are useful but not common at all...

it's not needed, but it's definitely useful.

dell latitude xt or lenovo x61t are good choices. i personally have an asus r1f.

Laptop thread: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-los-angeles/519293-what-laptop-do-most-students-use.html?highlight=lenovo%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-los-angeles/519293-what-laptop-do-most-students-use.html?highlight=lenovo</a></p>

Just remember that tablet pc screens generally look grainy and horrible because of the touch sensitive layer on the screen. I'd just take my notes on normal paper and scan then onto the computer later.

Hey, has anyone tried modding an Asus EEEPC to make it into a 'tablet pc?' I saw a lot of videos where people just buy this kit that can be installed beneath the screen and supposedly it works pretty well.
