I want to write my essays, but at the same time I have no idea as to what I should write, especially for the "Personal Statement". I've never really been one to be all introspective. Eh...

Oh i remember personal statement...i'm not even sure of what i wrote, but i remember that it wasn't much and took me months to think of...
the essays...oh gosh. not my happiest time.
but its ALL worth it in the end, seriously.

i wrote one last summer-- soo excited even then. Just give it a shot--or, maybe, if you have an old essay that you really liked, use that.

I'll come up with something...eventually.

Yes, you will. Power to the applicants! Are you applying to the lovely, dear sweet, EXETER, as well? What is your list?

Ha, I'm leaning more towards Andover myself. ducks

It's mostly because I used to live in North Andover and my current school is "sister schools" with Andover. But I will be applying to Exeter as well, I believe.

I'm narrowing down my list, and trying to come up with safeties...

Hmm... are you applying for grade nine? Because, if you are, perhaps exeter is NOt the way to go... haha, jk, of course.

I <333333 exeter. &hearts

my, my- well, of course I too am rather biased towards a school. my sib goes to exeter, so that's basically the place I know-- and I love the parents weekend, seeing the absolutely marvellous harkness discussion (LOVE debate), the awesomeistic people, and the huge just life of the place. that's what I love. the school is pulsing with LIFE!

anyway. tis me, biased lil me!

My schools be

Exeter
St Pauls
Deerfield
Choate
Lawrenceville
Andover

Gosh, I am amazed at all of you; not just you the people applying this year, but the people who even just applied last year. I applied to one school (Ex-to-the-er), started my applying process in November, was working on my essays the week before they were due, and ended up turning it in a day late. You guys are so organized! I wish the best to you all, and my only tip with the essays is be ridiculously honest and act like the person reading it has been your friend for years who you can say anything to. It makes you have a personality. Oh, and turn it in on time.

=)

lol. yayy-- you're a good advice-ee. did you get in with tons of extracarriculars?

Haha, not a ton. I know last years group had some prodigal geniuses who not just lived in their community they LIVED in their community. 3 sports, a plethora of plays, band nerd to the extreme, some mini awards, quite a few things related to books (i did my essay on reading, was in a couple book clubs, and my interviewer was not only the person who recommended i apply to Exeter, was also my librarian.) But that is really it. Like said, ESSAYS!!! They really are the best way to show what you are made of, polished, and spell checked. The interview too, make a connection! Really though, don't be discouraged if you don't think an area of you isn't perfect enough, just go for what you want and don't look back.

If anyone has any questions about Exeter that I am capable of answering, I would love to help.

aww. yay! I shall ask you much. :) ll

Ok... wowzers. but i guess its better to do extracarriculars that center around main interests, rather than just doing them for the sake of doing them, right? Is that the sort of thing?

exactly :D
you have to reason on WHY you joined, not what.
of course, once you look at your list you realize that there are two or three things that you've focused on for a very long time, while others sort of "supply" those main interests, so don't worry about trying to prove your stable interests to the schools.

Okay, that sounds good, most of my extras center around two or three main points, so that's rather a relief. All I can think is "Paris Geller, Paris Geller,"

gilmore girls anyone? the extras paris did...

OMG I am in LOVE with that show! I've watched the entire series, like 3 times.

Haha, I love how Paris just does anything and everything she can...she was one of my favorite characters.

Me tooo!! Hilarious!

I Know! Like in the third season-- or is it second? where she's all scaring Rory because of her massive extras- and at thanksgiving, how mad she is about all the soup kitchens... ahh paris.

Haha, yea, and they end up doing that construction site thing...Rory brings a fuzzy hammer ;p That cracked me up.

with the pink fuzz! omg! <3 gi;more girls almost as much as EXETER!~
