Going to grad school in a different program.

Ok so I graduated undergrad at a good state school in biochemistry with honors and had about a year and half of lab work in biochem. I then decided to do a masters in biochem but took a temporary leave for medical reasons. It has been almost half a year and I am fine now and going to go back starting next semester.

However, I want to go into the field of environmental science now. My question is should I spend the time and money finishing my Masters and then find a way to get into some environmental science program or just quit for good, work in a lab that deals with environmental science and go from there. Any other suggestions?
