Goldman Sachs Sued by SEC for Fraud Tied to CDOs (Update2) - Bloomberg.com

Witch-hunt.

Let the fed try…it should be amusing. Goldman is too f-ing smart for the government…

God Bless the BB!

It’ll just end with a settlement that they’ll easily be able to afford.

I’m just waiting a day or two for the hype on this to build a little so I can buy some Goldman stock once it drops below 20% previous value so after this is over and their stock shoots back up I can make some money to help pay off this summer.

Yea I wish I had some extra capital to do that.

Goldman will come out of this with no punishment, guarenteed. They did nothing wrong, really. They actually lost 90 million dollars on the trade. BTW, if you’re looking to make money, GS doesn’t have as much upside as many others do. You should take a look at HIG, BAC, MGM, just to name a few.

Most definitely not looking long term. I’m waiting to put down an option to make a quick buck on the volatility of the stock right now, that’s about it.

I find it very funny no one even talked about the idiotic title of this thread

“Witch hunts” have been highly effective in the past and in this case just getting access to all sorts of internal information can lead to more damaging discoveries. You lack perception of the very real public anger toward Wall Street. While they can buy influence it’s much harder to buy votes all over the US.

Check your stats, the democrats have been losing support consistently, its really they who need it.

Yes, and R’s are coming along too.

The whole case is a staged show for political gains…very typical of the radical left

However, have no fear, wall street is too smart for both politicians and general public to undermine.

No its “Feds” as in Federal Government

^ My mistake then :)

Agreed. The SEC’s got nothing on GS. They should just drop it before they embarrass themselves any further.

It’s too bad the SEC can’t find the true criminals, like Bernie Madoff. Although people had been educating the SEC about the con-artist, the SEC continued to play it off until he lost $50 billion. SEC=joke, in my opinion.

Anyone else find Mary Schapiro to be absolutely ridiculous / comical?

http://dealbreaker.com/2010/04/mary-schapiro-is-****ed-about-suggestions-the-goldman-charges-were-politically-motivated/

If Wall Street was so smart why have many firms gone out of business with most of the rest requiring bailouts?? Why did half a million bankers have to sell their Porsches?

Maybe not all Wall Street was so smart, just the guys who are left. They are so smart that they successfully finagled the bailouts, thereby preserving their own position, after previously profiting from the questionable activities for years. And at the same time they enhanced their position going forward by causing their competitor Wall Street firms to go out of business. And used the event as an excuse to dump the half a million other bankers they didn’t like. Then bought those bankers’ Porches at panic-sale prices.

You are looking at Wall street as if it was some sort of kumbaya, we are all in this together monolith. Actually it’s a dog eat dog world out there. Many would gleefully watch a competitor go down the tank, or some other guy who isn’t them getting canned, if it makes their position more secure.

It’s tough out there.

Watch your back.
