Good BS's with Music Programs

<p>What are some BS's with good (Good defined as at a higher quality than the average BS, I know, bad deffinition, but I'm not feeling creative today.) music programs?</p>

<p>I'm a tuba player, and I'd need to rent a tuba, since a decent tuba cost at least $3,000, if you're lucky. Does anyone know if any schools rent instruments?</p>

<p>Third, it's not really a make or break situation, but do any boarding schools what so ever have a marching band program? I'm marching this year and wouldn't mind continuing it on. It's intriguing really. </p>

<p>Lastly, how much does the average school charge for private on-campus lessons?</p>

<p>(If it's any consolation I'll be applying for junior year.)</p>

<p>Could you define what you mean by a "good music program?" Are you interested in opportunities to perform, and to improve your musicianship? And/or, in studying Music as an academic subject, i.e., Music Theory and composition?</p>

<p>Actually all of the above. </p>

<p>I want something that I won't be learning the basics year after year, but the music will actually be more challenging as I progress. Which is more than I can get at my current school. </p>

<p>I'm intersted in conducting, so anything that helps that throw it in and I'm probably looking for it.</p>

<p>At my Daughter's Boarding School, the charge is $35 for 45 minute lessons which is billed separately than tuition.</p>
