<p>Thanks mom2collegekids, I used the net price calculator from College Board and found that due to my parents finances several private universities could get the price down to around 10,000 a year. The only public that could do this was Stony Brook as it is in my home state. I have now cut down my list to Duke, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Lehigh and Stony Brook. My ACT is 32 but I have not taken the SAT. And I would like to probably move into the research field of ChemE such as working with renewable energy resources. Could you speak to the ChemE reputation of the schools I have mentioned above?</p>
<p>GPA? If your GPA is high, then some of the automatic full tuition and full ride scholarships will be there for you as safeties.</p>
<p>Some people have reported getting competitive full rides for chemical engineering at Delaware.</p>

<p>Your ACT is actually lowish for schools like Vandy and Duke. That may seem odd, but those schools’ middle quartiles are high. </p>
<p>For example…the middle quartiles for Vandy is 31-34…so a 32 would put you in the lower half of the school, making it a high reach. </p>
<p>I think you need more match schools. </p>

<p>32 ACT is good enough for Duke and Vanderbilt. You will be in the middle. You will not get any scholarships though.</p>

<p>Wow thanks guys I didn’t even realize that. At Vanderbilt I calculated my need based aid and it would bring down the cost to about 10,000 a year. Looking like my number 1!</p>
