Good composite, bad writing score. Retake the ACT?

Hi,

So I just got my Writing score back and I was really shocked to see that I scored only a 24. I have a 34 composite (34E, 31R, 35M, 35S) and my grades in school are really high (valedictorian). Moreover, I wrote pretty good essays (I think).

I’m really concerned that this low writing score would undermine my English proficiency. Now this is particularly worrying me because I’m an international student and I’m hoping to waive my TOEFL at most of the places (because of financial as well as time issues).

So my question is - Should I retake or not?

Many people are complaining that the new scoring on the Writing is an issue. Don’t bother retaking with that composite. Your reading score already shows your English proficiency IMO.
