Does anybody know of any good college-hosted summer programs to go? I am currently a sophomore, with limited background in C++ and some knowledge of Java.

Thanks in advance.

haha i come from the same boat as you cept i’m a freshman
I started off by doing C++ and Java via CTYonline. They have some expensive, but worthwhile courses. I’m looking for such a program too…so bump

Check out the summer programs offered by Carnegie Mellon.

The AP/EA courses include a number of computer-related ones:
[AP/EA Courses - Carnegie Mellon offers Courses for College Credit](http://www.cmu.edu/enrollment/pre-college/apea.html)

There’s the Game Academy [National High School Game Academy (NHSGA) - Pre College - Carnegie Mellon](http://www.cmu.edu/enrollment/pre-college/game.html)

If you qualify, their SAMS program is supposed to be great:
[SAMS: The Summer Academy for Mathematics + Science](http://www.cmu.edu/enrollment/summerprogramsfordiversity/sams.html)
If you’re overqualified academically, evidently some SAMS applicants get invited to attend the AP/EA program.

Game academy has little to do with computer science. Lectures are exclusively about the gaming industry. Teaching is: see one do one. Very little structured learning especially considering that it is at CMU where tutorials could be phenomenal. Everyone has to take programming and art; art is far better taught.

CMU is one the top colleges in the world for computers, so not surprised, and should I apply to SAMS or AP/EA directly? I don’t want to do SAMS though, :(
