Good EI for SDSU

I would like to know what a good EI is for the nursing major at SDSU

A competitive EI for SDSU Nursing is a 4500 for the SAT and 1150 for the ACT. Having below these thresholds does not mean you cannot be accepted since much will depend upon the stats of your fellow applicants.
The lowest EI I have seen that has been accepted in the last 3 years was a 4330 for a local applicant 3 years ago. Last year I saw a 4460 that was rejected.

Thank you so much for the information, I knew it would be challenging. Do you know what else would look good on the application besides a good EI
I have been a volunteer at a local hospital for 4 years and was wondering if this would help

These are the recommendations from the SDSU Nursing Website:
Admission to the SDSU School of Nursing is highly selective. Students must meet the following minimum eligibility criteria in order to be considered for admission:
-Minimum 3.0 GPA in A-G coursework

  • Completion of the following courses with grades of B or higher:
    o Biology
    o Chemistry with Lab
    o Algebra II (Intermediate Algebra)
  • Competitive SAT/ACT Score

Given the strength of the applicant pool for the Nursing major, students are encouraged to earn the highest Grade Point Average and SAT/ACT scores as possible. A strong foundation in the sciences is necessary to succeed in the study of nursing so it is recommended that students challenge themselves by registering for Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, or AP Biology (if offered at your respective institution) while in high school.

Here are some stats from the last few years Freshman class:

Having experience in the hospital setting will help with your decision to pursue Nursing, but EC’s are not considered for admission as a Freshman.

@Berly24: Regarding your question about changing majors for SDSU, it is probably too late to do it but you can contact admissions just to confirm. Since no Nursing decisions have posted yet, there may still be a chance.

Hello Gumbymom- I see you have a child in the SDSU school of Nursing. My D and I have been researching this school. We are not local but live in CA. 4.3 GPA, ,1250 SAT, taking ACT this weekend, 40 hours volunteer in a hospital setting, Class President. Due to the fact its Direct Entry, study abroad junior year and in beautiful San Diego, this is her top choice. How does your child like this school program, really? Are the class sizes big? My understanding is the School of Nursing is a set and “guaranteed class” program, but I want to hear it from someone there. How are the dorms? Which one is he in? D would like her own dorm room in which she shares a common living quarter. A sorority is a strong possibility. I would love to talk on the phone, if possible. She also liked LMU and USD, but you can’t beat the SDSU direct entry program. We really don’t have a Plan B.

@BlackStallion: I do not have a student in the school of Nursing. My son is a CS major at SDSU however, I have been helping my niece do some research whom is interested in SDSU Nursing and applying in the next 2 years

I would PM @davisgirl whom is in the SDSU Nursing program and I am sure would help you with your questions.

thank you very much
