Typical answers for the "why IB" are boring: i want to be challenged, i want to learn to value companies, etc.

Have you heard any truly interesting answers? Any that got you good marks on your interview?

Also, how do you answer the "why investment management/ asset management/ private wealth management" question well? What are the typical responses to those?

i mean honestly there is no right and wrong to those questions. you shouldn’t try to cater your response to something that will get you “good marks.” you should have a genuine interest in the job your pursuing and if you do, that will shine through more then any answer you prepared.

That said you will more then likely get a technical question about something finance related (these typically have a right and a not so right answer). You aren’t expected to know everything but your thought process should mirror what actually would go on.

related to your major of study (econ/finance/business)

ibanking is interesting concept

fair compensation

not a blasting answer, but fairly logical. got me passed the goldman interviews

-most demanding job in finance out of undergrad= prepares you for any type of career in finance you want in the future, gain unique skill set considering you are only just graduated from undergrad (and being a summer analyst, not even)

i use the, “every analyst i’ve spoken with while admitting its challenging and hard work is an invaluable learning experience”

blah blah, you have to sound really genuine and not rehearsed!
