Not being a school expert myself, I wanted to ask my fellow CCers (?) about these alternatives to normal universities. Since I'm applying for undergrad, I was looking into LACs, but saw that so many of them are far from the "action" of a big city and thus, at least in my mind, far from job opportunities and internships. I know I'm probably wrong, considering the level of some of those schools, but would still like to include on in my list. Possibly with a bigger student body that 1,000 (which also means more cute girls :P)

In Philadelphia suburbs: Swarthmore, Haverford, Ursinus.

In Chicago suburbs: Lake Forest

In Charlotte suburbs: Davidson

In St. Paul: Macalester

in Los Angeles: Occidental

In Colorado Springs: Colorado College

In Memphis: Rhodes

A little far but add Pomoma and Harvey Mudd for LA.

“Normal” universities?

perhaps Rollins College in Orlando

NYC: Barnard (all girls school fyi)

This is the complete list of colleges categorized as Liberal Arts by the Carnegie Foundation and are located in mid to large size cities and have at least 1000 students, ordered by student body size. (source is IPEDS).

College of the Holy Cross (LAC ~ 3,000 students) is in Worcester, MA which is one of the largest cities in New England (but it’s not a very pretty city TBH haha). Worcester also has schools like Clark, WPI, and Assumption College. The school’s also 45 minutes-1 hour away from Boston which has plenty of schools so I don’t think meeting cute girls will be a problem when you’re surrounded by so much lol
