Good Luck and safe passages to Defiance and Peregrine crews

The USMMA Offshore Team will be crewing 2 boats in the world famous and historic Newport (RI) to Bermuda Race next week. The race is 635 miles over open ocean, crosses the mighty Gulf Stream and been run for over 100 years.

To our sailors, who take to big seas in small boats, we should all wish them fair seas and good luck. Go KP !

In addition, I offer:

"Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arms doth bind the restless wave,
Who bids the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits deep,
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea."

Looks like our boats and doing great in Newport to Bermuda Race.

You can track them here:

2008 Newport Bermuda Race | Boat Mapper

Our boats are Peregrine J120
and Defiance (Belle Mente)

I am new to this but, I have been following the progress over the week-end. I see that the Defiance is shown only a little over 100 miles from finish.

Best of Luck to the Peregrine as well (Just good to see the USNA - Defiance further out)

CPASteve

Just a minor correction. The USMMA boats in the Bermuda race are:

Defiance - Riker (skipper)

Peregrine - Giorgio (skipper)

Bella Mente is not a USMMA boat.

actually, perigrine's skipper is listed on the tracker as Ralf Steitz, one of the coaches.

Yep, as usual, my mistake. But an easy one to make.

The CURRENT Belle Mente is a brand new 69' boat privately owned.
The OLD Belle Mente is the FORMER Belle Mente, now our Defiance, a 66' beauty recently donated to USMMA. Confusing, but right ?

I personally have a problem with re-naming boats/ships. Bad luck and all.

In either case, hope the main sheet tender on Peregrine is enjoying herself.

looks like peregrine finished the race just before midnight last night

How did they end up at the finish line?

Congratulations to both crews.

Congrats from here too.
Looks like our prayers for safe passages were answered.
And sometimes just safe passage is good luck in and of itself.
Im SURE that our kids just made memories that will last a lifetime.
And they didnt need to be sprayed with a magnum of champaign
anyhow. Bet they are eating good today. I hear its a VERY BIG PARTY
for a week after the finish.

BTW Call home
