<p>For per the audition question, I would take some lessons with someone who’s been through it before. If you go to check out the school you could try and take a lesson with a professor there or even a student. My son went to UCLA and eventually felt he needed to expand his influences. At the time I didn’t understand it why he was going outside the school but he began studying with Scott Breadman, really enjoyed it and felt he got a fresh perspective.
My daughter is following in my son’s footprints but we’re considering not majoring in music at school but seriously studying it privately and in the school. This really only works in a city like Los Angeles where there’s so many excellent musicians and teachers. There’s good value in going to a place like Indiana also.</p>
